01 Who we are
AM Builders ("AM Builders," "we," "us," or "our") is a licensed general contractor based in Calgary, Alberta, providing basement development, home renovations, new home construction, and commercial construction services to homeowners and businesses in Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane, and the surrounding communities.
This policy covers personal information we collect through our website, ambuilders.ca, as well as information we collect when you call, email, or meet with us about a potential or active construction project. It does not cover information collected by third-party websites we may link to, which are governed by their own privacy policies.
02 Information we collect
We collect only the information reasonably needed to respond to your inquiry, prepare an estimate, deliver a project, and run our business responsibly. The categories below cover what we may collect, depending on how you interact with us.
Information you give us directly
- Contact details — your name, phone number, and email address.
- Project information — your property address or project location, a description of the work you're considering, your rough budget or timeline, and any photos, sketches, or documents you choose to share with us.
- Communications — the content of emails, phone calls, texts, and in-person conversations you have with our team, including notes taken during a site visit or consultation.
- Contract and billing information — if you become a client, this may include your mailing address, payment and invoicing details, and permit-related information required by your municipality.
Information collected automatically
When you browse ambuilders.ca, our website and our analytics providers automatically collect some technical information, including your IP address, general geographic location derived from that IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, and the site that referred you to us. We use this information in aggregate to understand how people use our site — we don't use it to identify you personally.
Information from other sources
Occasionally we receive your contact information from a third party — for example, a friend, family member, or trade partner who refers you to us, or a community event where you provide your details for a follow-up (such as a raffle or sign-up sheet). We treat this information the same way as information you give us directly.
03 How we collect your information
- Through the quote request and contact forms on ambuilders.ca, which are processed using our customer relationship management platform, GoHighLevel (operated by HighLevel Inc.).
- When you call our office, send us an email, or message us directly.
- During in-person consultations, site visits, and walkthroughs.
- Through cookies and similar tracking technologies while you browse our website (see Cookies and similar technologies).
- Through referrals from past clients, trade partners, or community events we participate in.
04 How we use your information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your quote request or inquiry and follow up to schedule a consultation;
- Prepare estimates, proposals, and itemized quotes for your project;
- Communicate with you throughout a project, including scheduling, permitting, and progress updates;
- Prepare and submit permit drawings and applications to your municipality where required;
- Invoice you and process payments for completed work;
- Maintain accurate business, tax, and warranty records as required by law;
- Send you marketing communications about our services, where you've given us consent to do so, and always with an easy way to opt out;
- Understand how visitors use our website so we can improve its content and performance; and
- Meet our legal, regulatory, licensing, and insurance obligations as an Alberta general contractor.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond what's described in this policy without asking for your consent first.
07 Cross-border data transfer
Some of the service providers we rely on, including our GoHighLevel/HighLevel CRM platform, store and process data on servers located in the United States. This means personal information you submit through our website forms may be transferred to, and stored in, a jurisdiction outside Canada.
08 How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
- Quote requests and inquiries that don't become a project are generally retained for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, so we can follow up or respond if you return with questions, after which they are deleted or de-identified.
- Client and project records — including contracts, invoices, and permit-related documents — are retained for at least seven years after project completion, in line with standard Canadian tax and accounting record-keeping requirements and our warranty obligations.
- Marketing communications are retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent, after which we stop sending them and remove you from active marketing lists within a reasonable time.
09 Your rights and choices
Under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Withdraw your consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions (for example, we can't delete records we're legally required to keep, like permit documents for a completed project); and
- Ask questions about how your information has been collected, used, or shared.
Marketing opt-out
If you receive marketing emails or text messages from us, every message includes a simple way to unsubscribe. You can also opt out at any time by emailing us at info@ambuilders.ca with "unsubscribe" in the subject line. Opting out of marketing won't affect service-related communications about an active project.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact us section below. We'll respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with Alberta law.
10 How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the personal information in our care against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or modification. This includes restricting access to personal information to team members who need it to do their jobs, and relying on reputable service providers who maintain their own security standards.
No method of storing or transmitting information online is completely secure. If we ever become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta as required by law.
11 Children's privacy
Our website and services are directed at adults seeking construction and renovation services and are not intended for, or directed at, children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, such as social media platforms or partner organizations. This policy only applies to ambuilders.ca. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. If we make a material change to how we handle your personal information, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know.
